The Way of a Child
Once at the age of six, my friend and I found a trail of ants atop our garage gate. A minute later, we were perched on top of it, directing traffic (I mean 'disrupting'). Then a bit of experimentation (no wonder I am studying to be a scientist!).What would happen if a stone is placed in their path? We experimented on the effects talcum powder would have on them. A strokeful of it left them messy-looking, scattered and disoriented, but otherwise unharmed. Those lucky enough to escape our assault hurried to warn their incoming friends. They all turned back and fled from trouble. We went after them. Just another example of the many 'creative' evenings we spent in our childhood.
